Well, it's nearly here!

Well, here we almost are! I can't believe the first week of May is already gone, and the wedding is only three weeks away! It's been a long time coming-- I guess that's how it feels when you have a nice long engagement like John and I have had. To think that when we got engaged, we'd only been together a year and a half, and we'd never lived in the same state. Almost seems like kind of a rash decision, doesn't it now, in retrospect? :) Just kidding-- it's all worked out beautifully, of course.

Anyway, we're very excited about seeing everyone, and about our big, beautiful party. I only have 49 things left on my www.theknot.com to-do list, so I guess we're getting there. :)

Remember, if you haven't replied yet, reply! And if you missed the deadline for the hotel, let us know and we can call for you and see if we can get you the group rate anyway.

Also, if you are an out-of-towner, we are having a brunch on Sunday morning for you! Stay tuned for details.

Well, that's all I can think of. See everyone soon!

Love, K (& J)

welcome, everyone!

Welcome, everyone! This isn't our first post to our blog. It's our fourth. But it's our first post- sending out invitations with this website on them. :) If you're not ordinarily a blog person, start at the bottom and read up to here. I'll wait.

You're back! Anyway, so let's update you on a few things. We've had a change of cantors, to Cantor Linda Baer. We haven't met her yet. We'll be meeting her on Sunday. Hopefully, all will go well!

We've also had a change of ceremony musicians. We finally woke up to the fact that it's not nice to ask John's sister Anne-Marie to play the flute ten days before she gives birth, so we will allow her to simply sit and watch :) (if she makes it!). Instead, we have retained a harpist, Mary Ellen Holmes (www.harpaccents.com), who sounds just lovely. And my brother will be writing a processional for her to play!

Hmmmm, what else? We've moved into our house! It's very exciting, although the unpacking is nearly as overwhelming as the packing was, it seems. The kitties have adjusted well-- they're fascinated by stairs. You are no longer able to see our house online, since it's been bought, but we will take pictures one of these months when we're done decorating it, and put them up. We also want many of you to come over and see it the weekend of our wedding, particularly those of you who are from out of town. No pressure on us or anything! :)

We haven't registered at Crate & Barrel yet. We may not, depending. But, while we are not registering at Home Depot, we are welcoming their giftcards as wedding presents. ;)

We hope everyone is well, and we can't wait to see you! Less than two months now!

Love,
K & J

website to reserve room in hotel

Hey, y'all! If you want to reserve a room at the BWI Airport Hilton with our group rate, go to this website: www.hilton.com/en/hi/
groups/personalized/
bwiaphf_schw/index.
jhtml

Let's see-- what other updates do I have? We're almost done planning everything. We've got a place (www.elkridge
furnaceinn.com), a cantor (Cantor Jan Morrison, www.columbiajewish.org), a priest (Father Larry Kolson, www.ststephenbradshaw.org), a photographer (www.evemorra.com), a DJ (www.electradeejay.com), and a florist (Aimee Huddleston, www.flowersbyaimee.com). We've got dresses (David's Bridal for me, www.watters.com through Betsy Robinson Bridal for the brideswomen and groomswomen) and tuxes (Men's Wearhouse). We've got wedding favors and a ketubah. I even ordered some shoes the other day. All we really need are wedding rings!

Oh yeah, and we've registered! At one place, anyway. Bed, Bath & Beyond. We're outfitting our new house from there. Did we mention that we bought a house too? It's in Columbia, and it's beautiful. We close and move in March! Here's our house, if you want to see it: Go to www.homesdatabase.com. At the bottom, where it says, "Quick Search, MLS#" put HW6276489. That's our house! Click on "Multiple Photos," "Slide Show," or "Virtual Tour" for more pictures.

We will also be registering at Target and Crate & Barrel, when we can find the time! :)

It's been really fun. It's been a lot to do, but we're nearly done and we can't wait for May. Just as exciting as getting married to one another is having a day (or hopefully a whole weekend!) with all of our nearest and dearest friends and relatives, since you all live so far apart. We can't wait to introduce you all to each other, and have a hell of a time.

Look for your invitations in the mail mid- to late-March!

Love,
K & J

Hotel Information

Hey, everyone! We have (finally) decided on a hotel. It's a brand new Hilton, and they want to fill it up, so we got a good deal on the rooms. The rooms will be $129 per night. Also, many of them will have two queen beds in the room, so if friends or family of yours are coming (which should be the case for most of you), you can double up and save some money! We have reserved ten rooms for Friday night and 15 rooms for Saturday (and I think ten for Sunday as well), but we will be able to get the group rate for as many people as call and say, "We're going to Katy and John's wedding!" (depending on availability). However, you have to reserve your room by April 25th to get the discount.

You can catch an airport shuttle to this hotel, and the hotel will also be running a shuttle back and forth to the wedding.

Here is the hotel information:

Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport
1739 West Nursery Road
Linthicum, MD 21090

It looks like a fabulous place too. Let us know if you have any questions!

Katy & John

It's true... we're getting married :)

Katy and John got engaged November 11, 2005, at Tavern on the Green, where John had taken Katy for her birthday. He said something like, "Um, so let's do it. Let's get married," and she responded with some gem like, "Are you serious?!" Fortunately he was, and she was cool with that. So here we are! (Pic taken with Katy's cameraphone about 10 minutes after "the moment.")

On this webpage, we hope to give y'all information that you need to celebrate properly-- airline and hotel information, registry information, space to post comments on how embarrassingly schmoopy we look in this picture, and anything else that you might need.

Info that you might need so far:

Who: Katy Schuman & John Clemens (if you have no idea who either of us are, you might have reached this page in error)
When:
May 26, 2007, 7:00 pm-at least 12:00 am
Where: Elkridge Furnace Inn, Elkridge, MD (close to BWI and Baltimore) (www.elkridgefurnaceinn.com)
How: We'll have a cantor and a priest. We're getting married out in the garden, and then the reception will be in the tent.
Why: Well, John's a great guy. He cooks and everything. And Katy has a nice smile. And we have similarly annoying senses of humor. Plus, we're staying together for the cats.

So, we guess that's it for now. Take care, y'all!

Love,
Katy & John

P.S.: Did you love our save-the-date? Do you plan to love our invitation and placecards and ceremony program as well? Then check out Katy's oldest friend (literally, since she was born and Katy was nine months old), Jill Velez, who just started her own invitation/card/calligraphy business: www.copperwillow.com!
